Islamic Unity from the Perspective of Thaqalain
Islamic unity is one of the most important issues facing us now and merits thorough discussion and research to facilitate a completely clear precise definition of its basic parameters. The subject of Islamic unity has become increasingly important since the existence of an Islamic political entity, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the presence of an extensive, far-reaching Islamic awakening, which has encouraged Muslims to base their lives on Islamic theory and Muslim interests. In fact, merely a decade after the formation of the Islamic Republic of Iran, this social awakening almost led to the establishment of two additional Islamic governments (Sudan and Afghanistan), and the occurrence of widespread conflict between the Muslims and their ruling organizations in so-called ‘Islamic’ countries. Rebellions were manifest due to what was perceived as unjust approaches, selfish interests, and the full adoption of Western styled governmental attitudes, with all the subsequent accompanying social and economic problems. There had been a deviation from progress, from investing in science, in the development of technology and, more importantly, there had been gross neglect of humanitarian dignity and equality.
